Free tiers, audited. Receipts included.

About ZeroHum

We audit free tiers for a living — the caps, the resets, the one-device rules, the samples wearing free costumes. If a $0 price has small print, we print it larger.

Why this site exists

“Free noise cancelling software” is a search full of countdown trials, watermarked exports and listicles that never mention the minute where the paywall lands. We built the site we couldn't find: one shelf, six tools, each with a till receipt showing what you pay (nothing) and what you give (itemized). The receipts get re-printed when vendors move a line — the date on every receipt is real.

Who writes this

The ZeroHum audit desk — a small team, bylined collectively and honestly rather than through an invented persona with a headshot. Our method is unglamorous: read the pricing page like a lawyer, re-check it on a schedule (last pass July 30, 2026), and live on the free tiers ourselves long enough to know where minute 61 actually lands.

The pledge, and the business

The no-trials pledge governs every page: permanent tiers, samples and trials are labelled as what they are, and anything that quietly expires wears the orange chip. The business model is the mirror of the pledge: we earn affiliate commissions only when you decide free isn't enough — itemized in the fine print. Two of our six shelf tools have no paid door at all, and we recommend them constantly, which is its own kind of receipt.

Tell us when a cap moves

The most valuable email we get: “this limit changed.” Caught a cap we haven't? {CONTACT_EMAIL_S2} — we re-audit, reprint the receipt, and date the correction.
